I’m moving, little by little, this week, to a new apartment. Of course packing brings up old memories, both of places I’ve been and many, many, many other moves across towns and borders!

So how did your moving go? Better than mine?

Ha! The movers stood me up, they were supposed to come at 1pm, then they said they’d come at 4, then 6, then finally they admitted they weren’t coming but offered to come a 5h30 in the morning. I slept in my clothes on the couch, unpacked a blanket, and got only three hours of sleep. They were an hour and 45 minutes late! Then, instead of taking three hours, they took six hours to move. So the whole move took over 18 hours, and cost me over 650 dollars! Then, the person whose apartment I’m moving into had not cleared out about a third of his stuff, so whenever I wanted to unpack something, there was no room for it. I’m up to my ears in boxes, and I don’t know where anything is, since I was kind enough to distribute the books with all sorts of objects so as not to make any of the boxes too heavy. I just saw a giant cockroach run into the pile of bags in the kitchen, and I guess we’ll meet again when I unpack. Eventually. He must think I’m awfuly rude! Oh, there he goes again, under my chair! But I can’t find my bug spray, as it’s still packed! Help! I’m off to bed!
