Reject du jour: meow!

I did not do my “batch” this week, mainly because I couldn’t even find a place to sit and draw in my apartment since last batch. Without going into details (the emotional ones are all documented in my “status” on facebook), a two-day paint job offered by our building manager turned into a two-week ordeal. My sofa will be wondering where I am tonight. My bed will be saying, “Where ya been, baby?”
Anyway, here’s a reject from last week’s call for “reverse caption contest” cartoons. Someone had suggested the caption, “For a number of reasons, this probably won’t work.” So I came up with this. Since Bob didn’t take it, the proud owner will be Emily Gordon from Emdashes, who is partial to cat cartoons.
And on the subject of cats, let’s hear from Minor Tweaks.

C, I am delighted that I will be the owner of this cartoon; thank you! They should have taken it, but it’s the second-best of news. I should clarify that although I am also the besotted owner of another of your cat drawings, cat cartoons as such are not something I seek out deliberately. I don’t even like to say my own animal pal is a C-A-T; I like to say she’s a roommate with a fur situation she’s coping with admirably well. The reason I love the drawing above is that it’s fundamentally a chaos cartoon, and boy do I like those!
Anyway, I’m honored that this will be mine. I shall frame and cherish it.

Laugh? I nearly died. Do you take commissions?

Talking furniture, eh? I’m guessing it’s the paint fumes.

Emily: rest assured, it’s better to be a multi-cat cartoon person than a multi cat lady!
Albert: glad you nearly died. That is the goal of all my cartoons: to kill as many people in one non-violent, rather pleasant fell swoop as possible and say, “Who, me?” (And yes, sometimes I take commissions)!
Ray: talking furniture is not an unusual thing in my house… my bed heaved a great big sigh when I took the plastic off it and actually sat on it’s edge as I contemplated where to hang my pictures again. They also say hello!
