At least not as a plumber. But this would be due to his own lack of formal qualification. Well, it turns out he's defaulted on his taxes and has a lean on his bank account. He doesn't even have the RIGHT to ask for a loan to try and buy his business. That's one thing. The other thing is, even if he were totally paid up and had saved up enough money to get a loan to buy his business, he'd probably never make as much money as would bring him into a higher tax bracket, as all small businesses operate at a loss for years. And then, we do have a recession going on here -- NOBODY is expecting to make more than they did. A plumber's assistant who dreams he'll be making so much money even though he's already in debt, incapable of managing his taxes, and seemingly unaware there's a recession going on --- that's the American Dream?
